One very late, freezing night in NY, I went to an open mic at UCB. Knowing I'd be performing to a room full of hopeful comedians, I made a comedy school speech for them.
Thing is, when I was up there, I didn't really hear people laughing. That's the thing about performing, your neurons are firing off like crazy, constantly analyzing and adjusting to whatever is going on. Stand-up is a huge thrill.
